Was wondering if anyone could tell me the correct propeller for a 1956 30hp Seahorse. Picked it up used but doesnt seem to go fast at all at full throttle. Was told by a friend to check to see if it was the correct prop for it. It's on a 14' Lund
Install a induction tach and check max wot rpm achieved with you alone to know exact rpm with current prop, you could have a spun prop due to being an oldie, if so, expect a very poor performance.-
Spun hub is not possible, as that motor uses a pin drive ( shear pin).
The "standard" pitch would be 11.5 or 12; which are the two sizes available here.
Propco Propellers offers additional sizes referred to as Light Load, in 13.25 and 14 pitches.
As mentioned, the only way to tell for certain if the motor is spinning up to it's proper full throttle rpm is by using a induction tachometer like a "Tiny Tach".
also 56 had a mechanical adjustable prop available of which I have one and I currently use it on my 33 hp of 1970 vintage (gotta love omc interchangeability).
