Hello everyone, thanks in advance for any wisdom you bestow upon me today!
I am having to replace my Volvo Penta 1998 4.3gi PBYCCE engine.
Im having trouble matching the block to a new one.
i know it’s a simple 4.3 GM block and I’ve found 2 on line at Jegs.com
the first one says EFI (which my existing is) but it says 230HP , which my existing IS 205 . Specs say metric motor mount

http://www.jegs.com/i/ATK-Engines/059/VMW3/10002/-1

The second
http://www.jegs.com/i/ATK-Engines/059/VMK9/10002/-1

shows 205hp but doesn’t mention EFI .

both engine show different head castings and a few other differences....
How do I figure out which engine i need? How do I find my existing head casting number?
Can someone please point me I. The right direction.... Thanks again

Thank you for that link! That had a lot of info packed into it. I read through the entire write up and I don’t feel any closer to an answer. My motor (from what I know) is a 1998 4.3 GI pbycce ... that’s what I used to order parts prior.
i just bough the boat last year so I’m very new to it.
What are the cheaper then Jeg... I appreciate any help , I just want to get in the water.

Ayuh,..... Welcome Aboard,...... That's what the fully dressed bobtail motor is,.....

It's built all 'round a Chevy '96 - '00 Long Block base motor,....

Ya buy the GM Long Block, 'n reuse all the accessories bolted to it, that turns it into yer 1998 4.3 GI pbycce,.....

That’s my plan once I can figure out what Long Block I need. The 2 links in my first post are my options, I’m not sure which one is correct.

neither of those. your local machine shop. take your existing motor there, they will rebuild it better than new for much less than buying from jegs.
