I have seen a lot of back and forth on how people set the timing on a 140. some say you need to tie it to a dock and some say just let it idle some say it needs to be in gear. not wure what to do.
The Dwell, gap and idle speed are all fine, just want to check the timing.

Run engine until its warm
shift into neutral
let idle
hook up timing light
loosen nut
adjust to 6 degrees btdc
tighten nut,
re adjust if needed

Is that about it or am I missing something.

Also.. I have a bin that I can fully submerge the water intake holes in can I safely run the engine in that bucket or do I need muffs?

That looks about right.

The bucket should work.
