Hi,

I have a Carb'd 2-stroke 2001 Merc Saltwater outboard. I'm in the process of installing a new prop on it, but I don't know what I should torque the keeper nut to.

I don't have a the owners manual, so your recomendations are welcome.

Thanks,
Phil

Re: Correct Torque for changing props

Just get it tight. Most people just use a "prop wrench" which does not measure torque.

Proper torque is 55lbft.And the prop should be rechecked for torque after the first 20 hours.Don't forget to grease the propshaft with special lube 101.
