corroded posts in distributor cap

Hello All,

Just curious as to why this happens to my distributor caps? It looks like chunks of corrosion on the posts.

possibly condensation? is there any thing that can be applied to protect them?

Change the cap every few years

Same as mine every year after 6 months of dry storage. I just clean it off with a nylon brush on a Dremel. This cap is 10 years old with approx 400 hours.
This one is with brass terminals, I had one with alloy terminals which did the same both came from VP dealers.
