I have a 1998 C115 Yamaha that is in the shop getting heads cleaned & poppit valve changed due to high RPM overheating. Unfotunately, they were getting ready to install cleaned heads & noticed on the edges the block has actually corroded in 3 areas. They informed me that they have had some success in using an epoxy type sealant but could not guarantee it would work for long. The only permanent fix is to change the block at a $3K price tag. Anyone experience this before? Any success or alternative solutions? Just bought this motor last year & it makes me sick to know it won't last much longer.
