I have a couple of holes in the bow of my boat where a trolling model was on installed and wanted to cover them up a little. I do not want to pay to take it into a shop. I have seen some gel coat filler and repair on-online, but do not know of well it works since most of them deal with scratches and not holes. Does anyone know a good one or have experience with this before?

Your biggest issue will be getting a color match. Takes lots of patience. Mix a small tiny bit at a time till you get it to match as close as you can then expand the formula and make the paste to fill the holes. Build it up a bit high then use 400, 600 all the way to 1500 grit to sand it smooth. It will be almost invisible.

Gelcoat repair and boat ownership go hand-in-hand. For holes, the area prep will be important as well as color match as previously mentioned. You might want to bevel the holes a bit to improve the surface area where the new and existing gel coat surfaces will meet.

Also have yourself some 600 and 1200 grit wet/dry sand paper for the finish work.
