Looking at a 15' with trailer, located in Ca. Would have to be transported to Western NY.Anywhere from Syracuse to Buffalo give or take 100 miles. Some truckers do not like to drive empty and run cars and such back to there home area for a reasonable fee. Any suggestions or ideas as to what it might cost or where to look for shipping firm/website.
Thanks

Where in CA? Lemme know what you find out, and what kind of timeframe you're looking for. My Dad wants to give me his 17' center console trailer boat, but that's in Newark, Delaware and I'm in San Diego. Hell, maybe there's the backhaul...ask around what someone would charge to haul one out and one back and shoot me a PM.

Unless someone is paying your to take that trailer off their hands, I would think you would be better off dealing locally.

Just be careful with uship. Anyone can bid regardless of their towing experience.

The boat was mfg in Ca. and Texas. It's a 1966, not many pop up in the North East.I was thinking that because of the size it could be put on a flat trailer or inside a rig. I know they ship used cars back and forth and it would fit in or on one of those movers.Located about 30 miles outside of L.A.

I assume it's something special, and you know the seller. A 1966 15' boat is usually not worth the extra shipping.

Shipping a car that distance would cost about $800 on a car hauler.

wow.......in canada i cant move a u haul 500 miles for that.

there are some industry sites (shipping) that many semi drivers use to fill there trucks on a back haul....you will need to finf an o/o (owner operator) because many companys will not sub out there cargo space.
and a back haul of that distance....i would make sure my truck was filled before i left town

I live in Rochester and there are lots boats for sale because of the many lakes we have up here. I got mine up here and got a decent price on it. The cost of shipping a car from Texas to Mass was about $1500 in 1999. With gas prices, inflation, and double the distance, you might be looking around $3,000. Is there any reason you really want this old boat? Chances are the stringers and floor need to be replaced, engine might need some work and lord only knows how the transom and hull condition are in.

As I said this boat rarely makes a appearance in this neck of the woods. Some of the fiberglass boats produced from mid 50's to mid 60's remind me of fine art compared to the ones that ply the waters today. Now I am not talking about specific activities such as fishing and skiing etc.where a newer ride would outshine most older boats. Just a pure WOW factor. This boat would be in the genre of a 1967 Fastback Corvette Stingray. You are not going to put the family in it for a picnic but man o man what lines on it.The boat is in the finishing stage of being restored. Basically the trim has to be put on and it's ready for the water.New paint, transom, seats etc. Motor is 100%. I do not know the owner but have the pics and details of the resto from start to end.Boating to some may be like how big and fast. Over the years things change. I am doing the reverse 2' foot step. Started with 10' and went to 30' I now would rather have 6 smaller unique boats than 1 big one, but thats me.So the main thing right now is the shipping cost.

Well, I completely missed that there is a boat on that trailer!

This is going to be pricey to ship, but if it's collectible and you have your heart set on it, why not?

A similar boat is on a site that has superb boats. I have talked with Bill and he is one cool man. I will not disclose which one but check out billscars.com and tell me his collection does not make you drool.

Well I'm still serious about the idea of possibly being your "front haul," so if it sweetens the deal to a hauler in your area to bring one from Newark, Delaware to San Diego before grabbing yours in Los Angeles, let me know. And let me know what you're looking at for an approximate date.

Right now the seller has somone looking at it this weekend and I cannot pull the trigger untill March. So it is a wait and see if it sells before then. I am looking at late March if I was too buy her and ship it East.

Late March / early April might just work for me. Keep me updated, especially if you can get some quotes.

Re: Cost for transporting from Ca. to NY

Put a listing on UShiip.com I put in a figure of 400-600$ It was 'suggested' that the average price for my setup was 1900 and I would do better by raising my listing.Since I do not own the boat I left it to see if I get any bites.I do not have to accept any offers that way. There was another option that may get a quicker response at your price listed but if you use that and someone takes it your locked in. Kind of like Ebay buy it now and you commit.

Got to be a Power Cat by Ray Ledger! Get it 88. I been looking for a 14t myself, and mulled over shipping from Cali or Texas. I'm curious to see what you pay for shipping. Didn't want to pay more for shipping than the boat itself. A road trip from Detroit to the west coast sounds suckish too.

Keep us posted on how this plays out. Good luck.
