Been fighting this for two seasons now -- hoping somebody out there can help. '97 Johnson 90 SPL coughs (hiccups, farts, sneezes -- what ever you want to call it, it stops running for a split second) on warm start-up. I've rebuilt the carbs and the fuel pump, replaced/tightened all the fuel lines, including splicing the fuel line from the tank directly to the engine. I've re-done the electrical system starting with the power pack, then new coils, wires, and plugs. I've found all kinds of crazy crap in my travels, from leaves in the fuel pump filter to ridiculously loose clamps and split hoses and each time I say "aha!" but the problem persists. I can clear it by accelerating -- once I run it up to speed (where it runs great) then idle it back down the problem stops, but this isn't always practical in the harbor. Never happens when I first come down to the dock, only after I shut down and then re-start. I'm at my wit and wallet's end here. Help!
