I have a 2003 Baja Outlaw20 with a merc 5.0mpi alpha 1 gen2. Not really the type of boat to be pulling a wakeskater, nonetheless I couldnt even pull him out of the water. I have a vengeance 23 pitch 3 blade prop. The only thing it does good is top end, can do over 60. Other than that it sucks I think.

I guess what Im looking for is a good hole shot and mid range prop, not really wanting to go WOT all the time. Mercruiser recommends a revolution 4 blade 21 pitch prop. You guys have any ideas? Maybe a good prop website too. THanks.

You can find a good selection on iboat's site - http://boatpropellers.iboats.com/. What sort of RPMs do you get at WOT? Going to a lower pitch and to 4 blades will help with holeshot and a lower planing speed, but you have to watch the engine RPMs at WOT as the change will impact that?

What sort of problem did the person have getting up?

I can get up to 5000 rpms with the 23 pitch prop which is max rpm. The boat just seemed like it didnt have enough low end to pull the guy out of the water. He could easily get up with a waverunner. I basically just want a prop that has good low end and good cruising speed. Ill check Iboats prop section. thanks

deep V, narrow hull, high pitch prop = slug getting out of the water, Add the drag of someone in the water, it only gets worse.

I think your money would be better spent on tabs - adjustable if you can, smart tabs if the budget is tight.

Prop - there is some performance to be gained with either a 4 or 5 blade wheel - with a high5, you might even be able to stay with a 23 and still get your wakeskater going.

Agreed....I am not a merc prop fan...very high priced..Stilletto baypro 11 in a 22 could be option with tabs... that combo would create tremdous lift and midrange punch..

You get a lot of performance and value in the 20 Outlaw. This is a great boat for all types of water fun especially wakeboarding. The punch out of the hole is enough for big skiers or boarders to use. The true V-bottom design gives you a great wake for tricks without having to add ballast. My only real complaint is that this boat desperately needs trim tabs. Because of its light bow weight and short length, the proposing effect negatively impacts the good overall design. Spend the extra few bucks and get your dealer to install them before delivery, you?ll be glad you did.
