OK.---It should be pretty obvious as to how they go in.------Make sure you do not mix up the connecting rod caps.--They will only fit on the correct rod and only one way on that rod.------Oil hole near the wrist pin should be to the top and deflector faces intake ports.---Post pictures if you need more help.

Are you putting in new rings? If you are, it really doesn't matter much which piston goes in which hole, unless one or more is oversize. Other than that, the pistons have to go in so the sloped side it toward the exhaust ports. Rods have to go in right side up, oil hole up. Rod caps only fit the rods they came off of because the "break" or fraction line is not the same on any two rods. Does this answer your question?

ya gonna have new rings put on but i was more worried about the cap on the piston rod. which way as like a car you gotta scrib it to make sure it goes the right side.. on my diesel tractor its different as it has a mark on inside only goes one way.... another issue is as i uploading a video out of the 79 115 the crank has divets on the one part least not on the rod parts... and it has less counter weight.. as the 84 as a bit more... but i was told by the marina they are interchangeable but i see a difference..

Rod caps have a bump on them for alignment.---Rod caps will only fit correctly one way on one of the rods.---If you are confused by that you need to take time and study the caps.--Mixing them up will result in a " major malfuntion " to say the least.

The rod and cap are machined and ground in one piece, then the cap is actually broken off. It is virtually impossible for any two to break exactly the same. If you are having doubts, test fit them before you install into the block. If correct, they will fit perfectly with no "edge" at the parting line.

no i not confused i havent looked closely so these are built like a a Diesel engine where they have a cut out or so to they only go one way... its not like a car or a lawn mower engine it can go either way and you have to scribed it to make sure you put it the same way...... thanks

????????--------No , the joint is a fractured surface and just like snow flakes you will not find 2 the same.----Should be easy to match the correct cap with the correct rod.

ok I just looked ya lucky they cut one end crooked not like a car engine where its cut in half perfectly and you cant tell which is forward or back fort he cap... these have a like wave cut so when you switch it around it doesn't line up so that helps not needing to scribe it.. I appreciate the help

Again you appear to misunderstand.-------------These caps are fractured / broken when manufactured and the joint surfaces are not " cut " by a machine.--The factory offers a special tool $$$$ to install these caps properly.
