1) Does the 303347 oring just set on top of the 303357 lower bearing to driveshaft seal? I see a little cup on top which it seems like the o-ring will slide down into eventually, compromising the driveshaft seal between there and the 303356 driveshaft to crankcase plate.
2) How does the filter in the glass bowl work? The parts diagram shows only a stud and a wingnut for the assembly.
Thanks-B

The o-ring fits into recess in the top side of the carbon seal. It completes the seal between the carbon, seal plate, and drive shaft.

The filter is a sintered element, made of many tiny balls fused together. The fuel strains through the spaces between the balls. The stud and nut hold it in place. Actually, there is a round plate to cap the lower end of the filter element. On some, that is the "nut" also.

I understand what you are saying, but the o ring seems to skinny to create a seal between the seal plate and the carbon. It seems like it would have to stick up past the surface of the carbon to create the seal at the seal plate. If that's the way it is then that's fine I am just trying to understand the assembly. Thanks again FR.
