My cousin winterized my boat for me and I think I may be in trouble. My cousin fogged the carbs and put in the stabalizer-did the normal stuff- but when he drained the lower gear oil he didn't fill it back up because his pump was broken. I think he drained the majority of the gear oil and he said it was NOT milky so it is fine and we can just fill it up next week. Is he right?????????? Is it true that as long as the gear oil isn't milky there is no worry of it freezing??? Also, we forgot to run the live wells dry so I'm wondering if water sits in those could the motors or pipes have frozen?? Man, this is the last time he touches my boat.

That's why I won't let anyone touch my boat, that way I can only blame myself.

As far as the L/U is cocerned, it should not be a problem if it was stored without lube in it as long as the plugs were in place.

I would just put in fresh lube, half way, and give the prop shaft a couple quick turns by hand to distribute lube, and then drain again to remove any condensation that may have accumalated over the winter.

Then refill L/U with fresh lube and be on your way.

As far as your baitwells are concerned, I don't have them on my boat, so I don't know what kind of trouble you will have there.

I am sure someone else in this forum will be able to answer that question for you.

Good Luck

Make sure that you replace the gaskets on the fill & vent plug.
