I am installing a cowl mounted trim switch on a 1998 Force 40 HP Outboard. The Green and Blue wire hookup is a no-brainer since they just plug inline with the existing wiring to the relays. My question is the Red wire ?? Does this just go to any hot lead from the battery, or is this something that needs to be tapped into one of the relays, or hooked to some other harness I'm unaware of ?? I'd appreciate any help and direction I could get on this, I'd rather not fry a $75 switch. Thank You.

I took the power for mine on my OMC 70 from the hot wire in the relay box, ran that wire (red) to the center post on the switch. I then ran the wires from the switch to the Blue (sky=up) and Green (grass=down) posts in the relay box and I was done. I put the new wires right on top of the existing wires from the controller switch, I just loosened the screws, slipped the new terminals under the screws and retightened them.

Having read your question again I would say you plug the green blue wires in and tap into a constantly on hot wire, wherever that is convenient, for the third wire to your switch. All the switch does is route the 12v to the appropriate lead on a relay in your existing box. It appears to me that your wiring harness is set up for the switch already.
