Crack / chip in hull, need advice

So I had a bit of an "incident" with the boat the other day involving the bunk guide rotating 90 degrees, causing the metal bracket to directly contact the boats hull. I have run the boat in the water since and checked the bilge for water, and it does not appear to be leaking at all. Boat is a 17.5 foot Maxum bowrider.

My questions are..

1.) Is it possible it is leaking and that portion of the hull is not connected to the bilge?

2.) Does it need to be fixed?

3.) If so what would you recommend, looking to fix it on the cheap if at all possible (not planning on keeping the boat much longer or spending too much on it. I know you probably hate that remark but it is what it is.)

Sorry if this is not the right place for the question, looked around a bit and didn't see anywhere better to post. Thanks.

marinetex use it like bondo, seen it used to fill up to 1/4 inch with no leak for now i want to say 3 years, i wont go far in it but it is a fishin machine.
mix it, spread it, sand it, it will even take pigments if you boat isnt white.

It looks like you just damaged the gelcoat. You need to repair it to prevent water from soaking the fiberglass. Either Marinetex or a gelcoat repair kit should work just fine.
