Crack in Lower 1/2 of outdrive

Went to do the water pump & noticed a 1 1/2" crack in the housing just above the prop. There was no water in the gear oil. Can this be welded? and if so can it be welded in place? or will I need a new case?

i bet i catch hell for this but i had a crack like that about 6 yrs ago and used jb weld after using a dremel tool to clean it out good, had the boat for 2 yrs after that and had no problems

Ayuh,... That case is Junk....

You might get by til it blows by glueing it up....
Welding is Out,... There's an o-ring right under there...
