Cracked coil

I have a 1974 25hp Johnson M# 24RL74M and need to know how to set the Slow-Speed Needle Valve, Also one of my coils has 2 cracks in it could this be the problem I wrote about Monday? (25hp Johnson Boggs Down)Thanks for all your help....BrianL, jgmilberg, seajay, rwise.

Start with gently bottoming the needle adjustment. Then back it out 3/4 turn. Start engine and adjust for best Idle and a 1/8 out.<br /><br />A cracked coil can let in moisture and allow the high voltage to leak to ground under acceleration or high speed......
