Hey everyone, I am fishing for options to refinish my fibreglass (I think) consoles in a 2005 tracker boat. They are all heat cracked. I don't know anything about this stuff but can learn with a bit of guidance. Plan in the back of my mind was dremel them out and smooth ish, fill with short hair fiber, sand smooth and re finish. Question is , what is easiest and most economical (that will stand up to the elements). New gelcoat, paint, some type of vinyl wrap (not sure how that works with the contours) or actual Carbon fiber matting? I do like the looks of carbon fiber but if it is double the cost and work then it's not worth it. Thanks!

One more pic. I did search through the forum but most of what I found was for just straight flat panels.

Hard to tell from the pics for sure from the pictures... but that looks to me like a re-coat in gel-coat that is peeling. (probably due to lack of preparation)

If that is it, the only cure is sand slightly into the original, removing all of the re-coat, then new gel coat applied correctly.

Uhmm, I'm pretty sure that's NOT fiberglass. It looks more like Heat warped vinyl to me. I'd peel it off and get a closer look!!

I don't know anything about this stuff but looks like a Fiberglass base with a poly or gelcoat about 1/8" thick. Pretty sure it's not a vinyl skin... The ones I am thinking of are paper thin.
