Cracked Lower unit. Can I repair?

I replaced the water pump last year around mid to late summer and when I went to winterize my boat, I noticed a crack around the prop shaft on the lower unit. The crack is about 5" long. Can I fix, and if so, how? Alpah 1 - Gen 1. Thanks in advance.

a photo would be nice BUT if your talking about a crack in the lower gear case it sounds like a no go<br /><br />tommays

If it is in the empty cup part of the drive you can drill a small hole at the end of the crack to prevent it from spreading and marinetex it up.A friend of mine did that repair and it was good for 5 years and probably still is.If the crack is further up towards the nose cone ,it aint so easy.Is it were the oil is coming out or is it closer to the prop??

The Problem with trying to repair a Split Housing is whether the bearing carrier can still be Torqued,+ maintain it's torque,......<br />If the Housing has Spread any,... The retainer will Slip thru the Threads......
