Forgive me if this has been brought up before, I've searched but haven't found a relevant topic.

I have a windshield off of a '59 Alumacraft that has a crack in it running from the top to the bottom. Has anyone had any luck repairing one of these? I was considering epoxy to fuse it back together. Am I on the right track? Or does anyone else have a better suggestion? I've been to the local bone yard and have only found smaller replacements.

Thanks
Jeff

Have you considered going to a local plastics supplier to see if they can make you a new section of windshield? I plan on doing that, as the corner sections (which are curved) of the windshield on my Donzi are plexiglass and cracked.

Jeff, it's be a real pain to try and fix the windshield, and it most likely wouldn't last anyway, and the crack would never disappear.

I've been thru 3 different windshields on my starcraft jet, and finally settled on one from a Starcraft Arrow. Perfect fit? No. A few inches wider and higher, but works fine nevertheless.

Point is, just keep looking, they pop up every once in a while. You might even find something from a totally different brand that'll fit good. Heck, my first replacement windshield came off an old rotted out wooden Lyman runabout.

Good luck
Rick

Good Luck with your windshield. I did make one using the 1/8" lexan and it turned out great. I pretty much went over everything you need to know in my thread that woody posted the link too.

If you have any other questions just ask!
