I have a 1976 cobalt i/o I bought a few years ago that had a small crack in fiberglass directly under front edge of pass. seat witch previous owner started the repair and I finished it. at the time I assumed damage from contact with trailer. now it has developed same 2" crack on the other side same relative location between ribs directly under front of seat frame.floor and interior ribs seem sound. any help appreciated!! trailer is calkins with rollers.

gator1
If your repair job held up on the other side I
would do the same on the port side. If it comes
back then I would think about fiberglassing
some support between the stringers where it is
happening at. Mabe someone else who knows a
whole lot more about this than I do will make a post.

Luck to ya

Link

Welcome Gator - We have a few here in Florida both two and four legged.

As to your problem - How big is your boat? Is the crack in the hull itself? If so do you have access to the inside of the hull? How, exactly, was the repair made to the other side?

With this perhaps we can offer some suggestions.

Thanks SoLittle
Just didn't want gator1 to think his question was not being read! And that is what I would have done..
Me and fiberglass don't get alonge! Hate the stuff! Worse than spider webs! Just stronger is all :)

Link

Thanks for the replies it's 18' and a 4" hole was drilled thru floor under seat and some fiber and resin was put in before I got it and I took the sander to it and feathered out a lager area and glassed it in. held a couple years now. last outing when I returned home new crack on other side. same in all aspects except opposite side.

gator,

I think I would be taking a long hard look at how that boat sits on the trailer. Something is beating the hull at that point.

Cobalts are some of the finest boats made-overbuilt.
