On my Bayliner there's a few spots on the transom, coin-sized, that seem to have been fixed with marinetex at some point but the marinetex itself is cracking. I've ground them out and plan on filling it up with epoxy peanut butter (w/ fairing filler thickener). I'm following the West System manual on this.
There's also a couple cracks in the gelcoat (below the waterline). I'll gouge them out like the West System manual suggests. There's also a larger area where there seems to have been some stress cracks, probably caused by flexing due to wet stringers.
Any pointers?
Anyway, my real question is what to do afterward. I haven't messed with gelcoat yet...does it have to be sprayed?
or since I'm dealing with small areas, can I just paint it?
