Hi All,
Nearly through my Mercruiser to Volvo Penta conversion, and i now need to fit a raw water pump.
My Engine is 2005 Mercruiser 5.7TKS Engine No. OW352124, with a serpentine belt. my only option is to fit a crank driven water pump and mounting bracket but i dont know what part to order so it fits my crank pulley, the pulley is quite deep and has a center bolt and 3 outer bolts. I have had a look at some pumps on the net but they dont look like they will reach the base of the pulley. I will also need the supply hose from the ouil cooler at the rear of the engine and the out pipe to the theromstat housing.
If anyone has the part numbers i would be most grateful.
Many Thanks
Damian.

Re: Crank raw water pump

Mercruiser doesn't use a crank mounted pump. Never have.
The pump Merc now uses is belt driven and a real expensive, hard to work on piece of junk. Well, that's my opinion of them.
The pump alone, no brackets, pulley, or anything else lists for $401.00 US.

To use it you also need brackets to mount it on the engine, belt, not sure what other idlers or other parts are needed.

Re: Crank raw water pump

With the Volvo pump, the pulley is part of the pump. Look at the picture in the link from your other thread.

Hi Don,
I mean the pump that fits and is operated from the front crankshaft pulley, i have seen a 2003 Volvo Penta 5.7 GXI with one on, My problem is i dont have any room to mount the belt driven unit because the fuel pump and filter is in the way of where the pump would need to sit, the configuration of the alt, p/s pump, tensioners etc have taken up all the spaces that i could have used and the back plate they are mounted to is not universal for me to move the various components around to make space, so the crankshaft mount is my only option, i am just worried that the volvo pump will fit to my mercruiser crankshaft pulley, mine is quite deep as it is the serpentine belt.
Sorry for thr confusion.
Kind Regards.
Damian.

Re: Crank raw water pump

You take the Mercruiser serpentine belt pulley off the vibration dampner, then you install the Volvo pump/pulley assembly on the dampner so the notches line up and it sets flat. Then you put the belt back on. Then you hook up hoses.

You are doing a one off conversion that no one else has done before and we can't see. Which makes it impossible to give you every detail needed to make this conversion.

The link to the pump I was referring to is this one.
