I am rebuilding a 1989 50 hp force Ser. #1573 Mod. #507Y9B. The lower crank seal at the drive shaft end when I disisebled the crank had the pressure or lip side towards the drive shaft. Is this corect? This side is usually towards the crank case pressure on other 2 stroke motors. The top seal is installed in the conventinal maner, lip side and spring pressure side.

Re: crank seals

Welcome to iboats. :)

Exhaust pressure beneath the powerhead can exceed that in the crankcase. They do that to keep exhaust gasses from getting into the crankcase.
