I'm trying to decide how best to approach getting a crankcase cover pin out of the V4 crossflow motor (1990).
The first one was significantly above the surface and a socket extension head on it knocked it out properly in the direction the OEM service manual tells you.
The second pin at the top of the powerhead though is below the surface unfortunately on the side per the OEM service manual of which way the punch should go. I tried a few intermediate strikes to see if it would release using a smaller punch due to the angle and below the surface.
Then I tried a few conservative whacks on exposed pin using a wide punch to see if I could back it up enough on the surface to knock out.
Not sure if I should just find the widest and longest possible punch for closing the gap in the hole or if any decent sized punch diameter will do.
Just don't want to peen the stupid thing into the crankcase housing and create more drama.
