I have a Crestliner 1850SF w/F150 Yammy and 9.9 Hi-Thrust Yammy.

Both are connected to the Cranking Batt. So are the GPS, VHF, SONAR and RADIO.

When I'm fishing with the troll motor and the F150 is off, how long can I continue to use my GPS and Sonar without worrying about the Battery?

If I'm on a Reservoir with ony the 9.9 how does that change things?

Do I need to get another battery for the electronics?

Re: Cranking Batt - Running Electronics

My setup has the trolling motor on a deep cycle by itself, and a dual purpose starting battery that has GPS & two sonar units, as well as a livewell recirculator (on a an auto-timer, great device) hooked up . . . I've cruised on the trolling motor in one area (i.e., not let the motor charge the battery) for over four hours and had no starting problems.

Now, I fish small club tourneys and carry a second deep cycle that isn't even hooked up, so I have the option to hook it to the starter or the trolling motor in case the day goes haywire, but GPS and Sonar don't pull much, and the timer on the re-circ. seems to keep the dual purpose in fine shape.

I'd personaly replace the starter with a dual purpose, but as long as you're trolling off a seperate deep cycle you should be fine for all but a full day's 'work'.

CC
