Attached is a picture of the crankshaft from my 91 Jphnson 70 hp. It was overheated and shows a blueing on the rod journals. Can this be polished out, or do I need to replace the crankshaft?
Thanks to all, Steve

Re: Crankshaft damage

Did it get hot enough to do any piston or cylinder damage? By what I can see in the picture, I would try to polish it and then see what it looks like.

If it got that hot, I would be concerned about journal hardness. It may be possible to heat treat it by a good shop. I would measure it first to see if all surfaces are within tolerances.
