is it possible to tell what the fish spawn stage is buy looking at the eggs. im just starting to crappie fish. actually last year with little success. im doing a lot better this year. we had alot of rain and cold spells here in georgia. im in lagrange ga. (westpoint lake) anyway im not sure they went on bed yet. i had about 12 keepers for filleting. instead of eggs that im used to seeing in other fish, what i believe to be the egg sacks have yellow in them but looks more like scrambled eggs. which im guessing is not fully developed eggs. but its middle of april. im not sure though that the yellow sacks may just be part of the guts.

Re: crappie spawn stage

I always use water temp to tell when they will come shallow. Its been pretty consistent from AZ to ID. When the temp hits 60 they move to 10" or less water and start hitting by 100's. Any colder and they are out deep and can be spotty for catching.
