I've just been reading a report on todays meeting of the ICC (international cricket council) and it seems that the USA has gone one step closer to becoming an international cicketing nation (c&p)

"Among other items were an agreement on the minimum number of matches required for a team to be ranked in the official ICC One-Day Championship, and an agreement to revert to full recognition of the administration of the United States of America Cricket Association (USACA)"

The next step is for the US to form a national team and request international status from the ICC.

You all now how much I love this game and for me this is great news.

I look forward to 7 pages & 500 posts when England and the USA test teams lock horns in thier first series.

:) :) :)

Cricket: Great bluegill bait. Not bad on bass and other panfish. They might even catch trout. :D :D

I wonder if one watched enough to get a vague idea what is happening it might be as interesting as curling. Our English speaking friends seem to get pretty excited about it.

It has been known that the Indians and the Pakistanis have frequently killed each other over this game.

RPJS, ignore the comments from the 'peanut gallery'. Cricket is a great game -- I watch it on TV when I can.

Would really like to see a live game. The skills of the top players are really awesome! I would like to see how baseballs great hitters would do against a spinner. Judging where that ball is going after it hits the ground - not for the faint of heart either. (I also watch a lot of baseball -Rockies fan -- I know, whats the use: but, got to go with some team. And, the Broncos and avalanche are also on my wall)

You can bet I'll be posting if they get a US national team. Although I don't expect them to do so well on the international circuit for a few years.

Curling, now JB careful not to rile up the northern members! Haven't quite got into that although in-laws insist on watching.

Re: Cricket in the US takes another step forward

We have a new variant on the game here, 20-20 Cricket. Both teams get 20 overs to play. Only takes about 3-4 hours for a game, and it gets real exiting in the last half of the second innings.

For all you American crittics of the game..... Have you ever looked at Baseball or Grid-iron from an outside perspective? Those two games really are boring. Probably for all the same reasons that you think Cricket is boring.

NFL football is entertaining on TV but awfuly dull, IMO live. I enjoy HS football and Arena Football live alot. Very exciting, constant action etc.

Baseball is still entertaining live but gives me a headache to watch on TV. Profesional athletes especialy in baseball and football have begun to sour those sports for me.

Cricket is not a sport played by cokeheads and steroid inflated rhinos, cricket is a game for real men. ;)

Indoor cricket or 6 a side would be a great games sport, I have no idea as to why it's not.
Has it ever been tried??

Don't think so. It would limit the amount of countries that could participate. And besides
.
.
.
.
.
.
.
.
.
.
.
.
.
.
.
.
.
.
.
.
.
..
.
.
.
.
.
.
.
.
.
.
.
.
We already have enough gold medals :p
