Hi- Having trouble with my old '87 bass tracker (merc 150) steering crooked. Its not really bad but its hard to keep straight going at a slow idle. Is there any adjusting I can do on the fin to correct this problem? Thanks for any feedback. Heard some great things about this site. thanks

Re: Crooked Steering

Make sure the torque tab on the underside of the cav plate is oriented, aft end, to starboard about 2 o'clock. Also check your steering system attachment points for wear, and thus, slop.

Re: Crooked Steering

A lot of boats tend to wander back and forth at idle speed. The fault is usually the operator's overcontrolling the boat. Make small adjustments to the steering wheel, and allow them time to work.
