I have a 1997 115 evinrude crossflow. I need a new crankshaft and was wondering what year motor I could steal a crank from. Evinrude parts shows a part# of 0434769. As far as i can tell that crank is only used in motors from 1992 to 1998. But I find it hard to belive that is the only crank that will fit. Any ideas????? my crank now has no part number on it only a BB and #18 on it??????

Re: crossflow crankshaft ??????

As I understand it, there are differences in the bottom end of the crankshafts in how the driveshaft seal is arranged.... The cranks are shorter or longer, depending on which set-up you have... Could you make it work with an earlier crank? Maybe, if you know which crank goes with which bottom cap, and which driveshaft length...

Re: crossflow crankshaft ??????

as chine walker said there were ALOT of changes over the years and i looked at a couple different cranks the other day and even in basic apearance (im no outboard crank expert) the differences are noticeable
someone had ask this same question the other day but they wanted one for an older motor (pre 85)
