CrossMember question

So i finally get all my screws out of the deck and then when I go to take them out I find that my crossmembers are not the normal Z or C channels but to me there lowercase t channels. The boards slide through the top of the members and then I screw them down. Not sure if anyone else knows much about these if they are a problem or not. I cant get the old boards out so the only thing I can do is cut them in half and then pull each side out. Just seeing if anyone else has these and if they cause any problems, even though there isn't much I can do about it now.

Re: CrossMember question

Ha k well since that question wasn't answered i'll ask a new one and see if I get any response.......Looking at what crossmember that the hook is attached to to bring the whole boat up on to the trailer it seems a little weak to me. I had some thoughts of having my welder reinforce that front beam and making that much more strong to pull that boat on to the trailer. Not sure if anyones ever had this thought or if this is a big no no let me know, thanks.

Re: CrossMember question

Never seen crossmembers like that but I will assume the boat is older so they must work, I wonder if they didn't put the first cross on then insert the wood then the next cross ect.

For the bow eye I would just get a 3''-4'' wide peice of aluminum and connect the first 2 crossmembers together with 2-3 bolts on either side, that should be all you need and then there is no welding involved, we do it that way at Bennington and it seems to work fine.

The deck on a toon is a major part of the structure so be sure your board are tight and if you are using screws use alot of them, I would go every 18''.
