Crownline 270 CR Cockpit Area Speakers Not Working

2007 Crownline 270 CR. I was wondering if anyone has had problems with the cockpit area speakers, there are 8, all have quit working. I have removed 4 of the 8 speakers, tested the voltage at the connectors, there is no voltage at the connectors. The Sony MEX DV2200 receiver is on, appears to be working, powering the two cabin speakers, and the 300 watt subwoofer in the cockpit area is on, too, but the 8-6.5 inch alpine speakers are not on in the cockpit area. I don’t know if there is a separate amplifier for those 8 speakers or whether the receiver alone is powering them; said another way, I cannot find a separate marine amp for those 8 speakers. Any thoughts or advice would be appreciated, I figured the Sony receiver may be bad, but this is a lil bit outside my skill level, since it is only powering the two cabin speakers, and the subwoofer, if there isn’t a separate amplifier that I can find. Thanks

Not sure if anyone can answer the question, mainly because stereo systems are different. You don't know if another amp was installed and neither would anyone else. Need to trace the wires back to where ever they go.

Also check there is not a switch on the amp or head unit which selects speakers. Most boats do have a switch so sound can be listened to in an area

Ayuh,..... Welcome Aboard,..... Trace the wires from those speakers backwards to see where they come from,......

Is there a fade front/back control on the receiver? Usually boat stereos are set up so you can direct the volume to the cabin or cockpit . . . or a blend of both.

Thanks for the tips. Yes, there is fade function that can be adjusted to all front or all rear. When I put all the fade to the front, the two cabin speakers get stronger, when I put all the fade to the rear, the 8 cabin speakers remain off and there is no sound from the cockpit speakers other than a lil bit of noise from the cockpit area subwoofer.
Looks like I’ll have to see where the wires go, whether they go straight back to receiver or if there is an interim point at an amplifier or terminal block, etc. I pulled the head unit out, all of its wires appear to be intact at the rear of the receiver.

A volt meter won't tell you anything when measuring speaker wires.
It's HIGHLY unlikely that your system is driving 8 speakers off the deck, particularly if there are also 2 more in a cabin and a subwoofer. You almost certainly have 1 or more amps located somewhere. The signal from the deck to the amps is likely in thru a patch cable using RCA type connectors. It could be as simple as the cable having been disconnected.
Your deck probably has options for using the internal amps or the pre-amp outputs. It can probably be set to have a subwoofer output or not. If the power was removed from it for a long period of time this may have reset. If you don't have a manual for the deck I would try to download one.

Thank you. Yes, power was off for a long time after Hurricane Michael because of the storm and other boat repairs. Yes, that head unit has 2 sets of 4 volt, I believe, preamp outputs. Yes, the head unit has a selection to turn the subwoofer on or off, I believe center channel, too, and front and left and may be rear. I have turned all on with head unit and turned up the audio level for each to the highest, but no change. May be when the technicians hooked up the Intellian TV antenna in the arch, may be something got disconnected

I have looked for a marine amplifier, but cannot find it. There is a stereo memory breaker and a stereo amplifier breaker on a breaker panel in the sleeping quarters, but I looked in that area in the access panels, and other areas, but I cannot find a stand-alone amplifier. I suspect there must be one, too, but it is hidden well

Could be near the batteries to keep the large gauge wiring run length short...I located my audio amp in my engine compartment for that reason... its much cheaper to run long lengths of speaker wire than large gauge cable.

Update: My my son in law looked closer in the access panel where the stereo memory and stereo amplifier breakers are in the sleeping quarters. When I looked in there I was looking for an amp, but he noticed that only the stereo memory breaker was wired, the stereo amp breaker was not wired. So all ten speakers and the subwoofer were at one time being powered only by the head unit, however bad, in the big pic in terms of sound quality, that was. So, to start, I’m gonna buy a new head unit, start there, see if all the speaker channels come back to life, then may be think about running wiring for an amp, but that might be a lot more work than what I need in terms of sound, so not sure, yet, what I’ll do.
