Hi, I'm new here but wanted to pick your collective experience on the following:

I'm looking to move up to a 30ish foot cruiser with fishing capabilities. I've been considering a Boston Whaler 295 Conquest, Pursuit 3000 Express or a Sea Ray Amberjack. Obviously very different boats but each seems to try to achieve the "hybrid" status I'm looking for. Any individual experiences with any of the aforementioned boats or other candidates would be welcomed.

The boat will be used in the LI Sound with an occasional run up to Block Island.

Thanks in advance.

Re: Cruiser / fishboat purchase

I'm on the other coast so don't know how my thoughts will apply, but I'm looking for something similar. I've decided that my 24' Striper, while a terrific fishing boat, doesn't have the amenities that I (and my wife) would like for cruising. Things like head compartment not tucked under the berth, more cooking and eating facilities, etc.
Since I will still fish more than I cruise, I've figured that I want an "express", which has the helm toward the rear (as opposed to the front of the cabin), as well as an unobstructed stern deck (it's amazing how many boats clutter up the stern rail with a padded bench).
I'm looking at Tollycraft, Chris Craft, SeaRay and (Lord help me  ) an choice older Owens.
Good luck!
