I have 2005 Crownline stern drive and was just out on the lake cruising around when all of a sudden the prop locked up. Any suggestions on cause and/or repairs? Not real knowledgeable on the mechanics. Any help would be appreciated.

Welcome aboard.

What is the prop attached to? Doubtful that this is prop problem. Most likely from the lower unit on up to the engine. Does the engine still run?

Thanks for the response. Yes, the engine continues to run. It's just when you engage the throttle it just revs up the engine. This is the first summer to use the boat since fall of 2012 due to the drought in Texas. It has ran fine the three times we have been out this summer.

Does the engine temp increase above the normal range?

Not sure. We had only been out on the water a few minutes when it happened. Had just started to row in when a boat offered to tow us. Put it back in the boat lift for now. Only here on the weekends.

When engine is at neutral, does the prop spins with hand ? If not, seems the gear case has locked or is shot.

Happy Boating
