Crusader Classic 2004 5.7 litre - Engine Shuts off after 5-7 minutes.
Confusing...
The engine starts easily when cold and idles nicely. Also, revs up to 4000 easily. However after 5-7 minutes of running it just shots down. Doesn't matter whether it is idling or up at higher RPM's. It does this without fail. I wait about 30 to 45 minutes and then it starts. However the process happens all over again.
Feels electrical. ANY SUGGESTIONS ANYONE?? I'm STUMPED!
My son has a '67 Ford mustang with a 302. It did the same thing. I replaced the points and condensor. Now it runs like a top.
Problem is, my crusader doesn't look like it has points or condensor etc.
Inside the Distributor it has "Mallory Breakerless Ignition module".
Could this Module be the problem?
Could the coil be bad and shutting down once it gets warm?
Checked the fuel filter. Seems fine. No water.
Checked the fuel supply. Seems fine and steady.
Anybody experienced this same problem? I would appreciate any advice.
If I get my mechanic involved. It's gonna start at $200 and go up from there!
Thanks in advance........
