i recently purchased a 1987 merc 3.0 rebuilt last season after about the 4th time out i noticed a ticking noise under payloaddoesn;t affect power or anything. first thing cheked the exhaust and put a new shutter in sealed up noise still there . so next step rocker arms opened up valve cover sure enough arms pretty loose some looser than others i have been told to start the motor ans slowly tighten the arms till ticking stops, i am just wondering if there is a specific touruqe for these and if there is is it very important.
