I willl be installing downriggers for the first time. For added functionality, I would like to mount my downriggers and additional rod holders on an elevated "rail", mounted across the stern, ahead of the outborad motor. This could be aluminum channel or tubing.

Cannon and other have some, but they sell for $300 bucks and up. Other than markup, there doew not seem to be much to them.

Is is possbile to have something similar custom welded, for less money?

Thanks

Hi Marty
I don't think it would take long to spend $300. bucks hireing someone to custom fab one of these. A lot guys including myself bulid them with wood. Regaurdless of the material used it's a time verses money thing. You take the time, you save the money.
