I've been looking at Glastron bow riders with outboards. The local Glastron dealer only has I/Os in stock and i am set on an outboard. If i was to have a custom one built with an outboard, can i still negotiate the price? If not i may just go with another brand.

Welcome to iboats!:welcome:

If they are available with outboards, you're not really talking about custom-made. Negotiate away; all they can do is say "no."

EVERYTHNG is negotiable today. If one dealer does not make you happy try another-- you should anyway. Sometimes a short drive can save a lot of $$$$$

Thanks for the input, there aren't many Glastron dealers around here, but driving a couple hours to save a couple thousand seems like a good trade off. If it doesn't work out, there are plenty of other brands to choose from.

I don't buy "off the lot", so for me everything has to be ordered. That way I get 100% what I want and nothing I didn't want.

If he sells you one out of his showroom, that means he has been paying the bank interest to keep it there. Thus, he can't afford to deal too much. If he can order one without having to float too much of a loan, he will be in a better position to pass the savings along to you.

Offer him a 25% cash down payment, in return for a 15% discount. Those were the exact percentages I got from my last boat deal.
