I am trying to find ideas for some coolers that I am going to put under the bench seat in my boat. Not sure if there is somewhere online that makes custom coolers or somehow I could make them (Not sure what materials I would need). Thanks

Re: custom fabricated coolers

I looked into this a little bit, wasn't sure which route to take.

Custom cooler seats would have run me 600+ to make them I would have had to fabricate the outer portion find or buy a liner and spray in closed cell foam and add drains to them because they wouldn't be removable. Either way it was a lot of money since closed cell foam is expensive.

I opted for something a little less expensive I removed the rear bench (it was rotted anyhow) and built two boxes with tip up tops connected by a common back frame with two seats I got from a garage sale. under the flip ups that the seats are mounted on I have an Igloo cooler which I can lift out to wash or drain or leave out if I am going on an over-nighter and need the stowage. I still haven't gotten down to where I store the boat to get pictures of the finished product but I will post them when I get them

Re: custom fabricated coolers

That looks pretty good. I figured custom cooler would be pretty expensive, maybe I can find a premade cooler that will fit in there. Thanks

Im thinking of the same thing. as my boat rear looks like yours and want to add more seating too.

I was thinking of this? Building the box and putting in some rigid stryrofoam insulation. Like what you'd put in your basement. Run drain lines with rubber hose right into the scupper area. and fiberglassing one "BOWL" to lock in the insulation and "waterproof" it all. This was my basic premise. a bit of work but I will say. if I can make it for a premade cooler I will look into that but thats one of the thoughts bouncing in my head. This would allow to use as stowage too as I just would not add ice and cokes!

God I cant wait to get out there and work on all this!! NY winters never end!
