I built a custom box 60in X 24in. Used for both fish box and big ass cooler. I used half inch plywood with 2in foam sandwich in between. She holds ice like a champ but I noticed it sweats from the bottom. Now I did go the easy route on the bottom. I simply put 2 coats of topside marine paint on the bottom outside. Everything else is fiberglassed and then gelcoat applied. Now it’s 33 degrees inside the box and 102 outside with these temps. Just worried with the condensation. Should I strip the paint off and fiberglass/gelcoat? Any help would be appreciated.

It does have foam all the way around. Sides bottom top everywhere. I just didn’t fiberglass the outside of the bottom. From the inside out it goes gelcoat, glass, 1/2 ply, 2in foam, 1/2 ply the 2 coats of bottom paint. I guessing if I strip the bottom paint off and then glass/gelcoat it would hold some condensation back.

As long as the inside is all gel. You will get condensation in almost every cooler

Yeah the inside is gelcoat. So would it be beneficial to glass and gelcoat the outside bottom?

Gel would prevent moisture from getting to the foam over time

Sounds good. Finally thought this project was over but looks like I have some more work.
