I had sucked up some muck into the factory sea strainer, and it choked off my water supply. This caused my boat to overheat. It wasnt on my mental checklist to check the sea strainer, its wasnt till I got home and went through everything that I found the problem. The sea strainer did its job, except that it is so small that with a small amount of muck it will cut off the cooling water supply. Plus you cannot see through it, so you cant glance at it to see if it has debris and if water is flowing through it. So I went to my local hardware store, explained what I wanted to do, and we came up with this. It is larger and clear. When I ran the boat on the hose I could see the water circling around. Now I can glance at it every now and then to see if it has garbadge in it, and can see cooling water flowing around. I havent sea tested it yet but I will tommorrow and post my results, and the best part it cost me around $24 for the whole hook up compared to $133.89 for just the factory strainer. Just wanted to share this with everyone. Any thoughts?
