1995 115 hp V4 Evinrude crossflow E115TLEOR
Does anyone know of anywhere on the web that has a cut-away view of the lower unit of this motor.
Seems like everytime I start this thing on muffs I have water coming out of a different hole. First I noticed water coming from a hole in the front of the motor squirting to the back of the boat. Next there is water coming out from slots in front of the anode. I started it up yesterday and noticed water coming out of two drilled holes in front of the water intake on the right side. It had a little corrosion around one of the holes and I tought there was a hole rusted through. After checking today its just a drilled hole. I sure would like to know what all of the holes are for and whats going on in there. I was told on this board the hole in front is a drain for the exhaust housing. Is all these holes drains?? Small holes maybe 1/16.
Thanks for any help.
Jim

Re: Cut-away view of lower unit ??

Well Jim, anytime you run on muffs, your going to get water from a lot of differenct places. What your doing basically is filling up the midsection with water because your forcing water into the lower unit and not just letting it fill like you would when the engine is in the water. The holes are cavity drains to drain areas that would stay full of water. Keep them open.

The water from the slots....did you get water from here before or after the engine was started?

Thanks for the reply.
The water from the slots comes before starting the motor. I guess I just didn't notice all the holes before, or maybe I started it quicker before. It just seems like a lot of water coming from every where. It does not run hot and the tell tail stream looks good.
Thanks again
Jim
