i have a 1974 trihull boat. would it work for me to cut a hole close to the back in the floor to drop in a cooler to put the fish in

You could do it, just don't cut any stringers or compromise any structural integrity. I would also make sure any exposed wood is sealed.

If you have a seating area in the bow maybe you could put a livewell up there.<br />I had 73 tri hull that I set up that way and it worked out great.
