cuts out at wot

I have a 1995 Mariner 90 that just started losing power at wot. I rebuilt the fuel pump and now it starts much better (and stays running without choking the heck out of it)and it is MUCH better out of the hole. But it still wants to cut out at wot. I can run all day trolling and half throttle is fine. Anyone have ideas?

check for clogging at the fuel pickup and the fuel filter also it could be that the fuel lines needs to be tightened or the tank ventilation needs to be increased, if the problem persists there could well be a bit of dirt floating around in the carbs.

Hi Talsum<br /><br />Had a similar problem with my Merc 40HP.<br />Combination of TWO things fixed it.<br />1. Merc decarbonizer (aka miracle spray)<br />2. Proper air venting to gas tank.<br /><br />As per Vlad, a new fuel filter is always a good idea.<br /><br />Have fun..... CF
