cuts out

I have a 1989 Four Winns 4.3l I/O. It's an omc cobra outdrive. Boat starts
great and runs great up to about 30 mph, any faster it starts cutting out.
I can best describe it as it's like someone is completely pinching off the
fuel line, like it's not getting any gas. It'll like take a nose dive then it will kick back in for a few seconds, then takes another nose dive. it just keeps doing this. I have checked the tube going into the fuel tank. I have run about two bottles of carburator cleaner through it. I just put a new fuel filter on it last fall. I keep wondering if it could be the fuel pump.

Remove the pickup from the tank and inspect it. Mine had a little stainless screen stuffed inside the tube and it was semi-clogged with debris.
