I have a 18' boat that I want to fit into a 22' garage. Do you guys think I'd see any adverse effects of cutting the tongue and installing a 8x8 bolt flange to allow me to reinstall it? I see some of the new ones have hinges, but I mostly need this to fit in my parents garage, as my wife likes her spot in mine and I think the boat will be gone before her parkign spot is.

I can leave it outside during the season and just remove this to put it in the garage over the winter.

Re: Cutting trailer tongue

I had a trailer one time many moons ago under an old Ranger tri-hull that had a pin you could pull and take the hitch off about 3 feet back.
All the wiring went into trailer back past that.

A bolted flange would be fine if the bolt number and size are adequate for the load.
A hinge made for that seems so much easier. These take 21" off; "cerka.ca"
