I just picked up this baby, yes, she needs work! And I will have a ton of questions because I know basically nothing about these boats or motors. But that never stops me from learning! I see great potential in her because I am the eternal optimist. Tom - Rockford IL

The PO picked it up a 'couple' years ago with the intention of restoring it, never got to it. There are no seats, the plywood floor is spongy. The fiberglass floor at the back is broken up exposing the stringer/spar running up the middle. The power trim pump is mounted in a battery box loose on the floor. Was it supposed to be bolted to the transom? The transom has been 'reinforced' with 1/4" alum inside and outside, looks like a bit of a hack job. There's gas/oil trapped in the bottom of the boat, I think it is from a leaking gas tank. The carpeting up next the the tank is stained possibly from the leak. The gas cap was a bear to unscrew. The o-ring looks like rubber dust. I removed the gas line right in front of the motor and tried to drain fuel, got only a cup or so. There is hope for it!

Be prepared to spend big bucks and lots of hours doing wood skeleton replacement and fiberglassing. The motor will be far less work even n if needing a complete overhaul. You mentioned that you knew very little about boats. Been a boat owner for over 60 years, can tell you this....are you prepared to spend 6-8 thousand dollars and at least a years worth of work to end up with a boat that will be worth less than 2K when your finished ??
If your willing to loose that much, then good luck, looking forward to your rebuild.
