cylinder head gasket

have a 97 force 120 hp outboard,noticed a small leak from cylinder head gasket,could this leak water into the cylinder.how much damage could happen if i ignored.should i pull the spark plug to check for water.or should i replace the head gasket,any suggestions on how to do.thanks to ya all.jeff

jeff,<br />your cylinders are completely surrounded by a water jacket after 20 hrs it is a good idea to re torque the cylinder head to ensure a good head gasket seal if you have no water in your cylinders i would try re torquing the cylinder head before i pulled the head and changed the gasket. good luck, bret forceparts@yahoo.com

Yes..check the cyls for water. Replace the gasket if you do not trust it. Better to be safe than sorry.<br /><br />TMD
