I have a 1987 Force 125hp which I am replacing the cylinder head gasket. There are 18 bolts in total and I am wondering in which order I should torque and to what torque setting. Many thanks for any help.

Jules-
I replaced the head gasket on my Chrylser last summer twice. Be sure and get all new head bolts and washers. The first time I did not get new bolts. After the first replacement I used the old bolts and washers. I had 2 washers actually break up and ended up doing the job again. Spend a few extra bucks and save your self a lot of aggrivation.

Torque them down in steps, 100inch/lbs, 175, and the 225, and you should not have to retorque them later and you will have much less chance of warping the head or getting a leak. Walker

Jules,
My 84 Chrysler 75 HP (Pre-Force, I think the bolts are grade 8, and they are 5/16". You should be able to match what you have at a machine shop or Mercury/Quicksilver dealer. Good luck.
